Broadening eligibility for presidency

Broadening eligibility for presidency

"The president shall be a natural born citizen of the United States, or a person who has obtained and held legal citizenship of the United States for 20 years, renouncing citizenship of any other nation."

Points

There is no logical reason for a person to have to be born in America in order to lead it; in fact, given our history of receiving and nurturing the best talent in the world, it makes no sense to have such a requirement. Why would we turn away talent from wherever it comes?

Sounds reasonable

There are long term naturalized citizens that adore the US and would be wonderful leaders.

Completely against this proposal.

A person of another country could plan for decades, as have political parties, to become a candidate, be elected, and push the agenda of another type of government. We have 330,000,000 people and the is sufficient to find people who can govern our country.
